Fuel and energy are a hot topic at the moment, what with fierce debate among laypeople over the subject of climate change and the related topic of sustainable energy resources and how we can use it to plan for a better future for the generations down the line.
Well, we can all get in on the action, and create a microcosm of this issue within our own lives, by being extremely conscientious about our own habits when it comes to energy consumption. In this article I’m going to target my focus onto vehicle related energy concerns, mainly fuel economy. Then hopefully punters will have more cash for cars in Cleveland.
Fuel economy relates to how much fuel is used compared to how many kilometers one has traveled, and it turns out that some particular bad habits can throw this relationship out of whack, resulting in money going quite literally up in smoke, or should I say smog. I probably should have said smog. It’s too late now. I’ve said smoke.
There are, of course, some good habits that one can learn that will not only benefit them, but also benefit the planet. One of them is to never speed. If you’re late for an appointment, it’s almost impossible to refrain from speeding, but you will probably be late no matter what, you’ll shave maybe 5 minutes off your arrival and still be half an hour late. This applies to everyone, including used car buyers in Melbourne.
It’s also a good idea to be stingy on the amount of force you apply to the brakes, employing the coasting method to stopping at all times. If you’re ever stationary for an extended period of time, turn the engine off. Try to avoid warming the car’s engine up for a longer duration of time than 30 seconds, and not last but certainly least is the suggestion that keeping the windows rolled up has an effect on the aerodynamics that can cause the car to do less work thus reducing fuel usage.
Going out four or five times to run different errands during the day will use more fuel if doing them all as separate trips, but if you schedule the tasks so you can do them all in one mission you can then save more fuel!
Hopefully, these tips will help in the never-ending quest to save money of fuel!
